Martin Catero, MD

Family Physician

Dr. Catero grew up in downtown Mesa, AZ, attended Mesa High School, and graduated from Arizona State University in 1994 with a B.S. in Finance. Disillusioned with his stint as an auditor for a health insurance company, he changed gears and followed his passion for medicine. In preparation for medical school, Dr. Catero traveled the state recovering eyeballs for the Donor Network of Arizona. Upon graduating from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1998, Dr. Catero returned to the Valley to complete his Family Medicine residency training with Scottsdale Healthcare.

Since 2005, Dr. Catero has directed Scottsdale Healthcare’s Neighborhood Outreach Action for Health – a community/school-based program providing primary medical and dental care to underserved citizens in the area. In addition, Dr. Catero serves as a Clinical Instructor for the Scottsdale Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine with the University of Arizona, College of Medicine. Special interests include diabetes, medical education, and providing care to the medically underserved.

Dr. Catero is an avid golfer, loves heavy metal music, and enjoys his time away from work with his wife, Jennifer and two children, Shea and Travis. Dr. Catero offers Gompers a medical perspective, enthusiasm for new experiences, and a dedication to serving the less fortunate in the Phoenix area.
